Cottonwood Heights is location between our two favorite canyons - Big Cottonwood Canyon and Little Cottonwood Canyon. This area has grown over the years and you see a real variety of homes in the area, new and older. Up Big Cottonwood Canyon you have Alta and Snowbird Ski Resorts. Up Little Cottonwood Canyon you have Brighton and Solitude Ski Resorts. There is also some amazing trails to hike and bike. There are some cold water lakes to fish and several places for camping.
Why live in Cottonwood Heights? There is affordable housing in the Cottonwood Heights area most people live in the area for 4 years and then find a larger home within their neighborhood. 65% of the homes in Cottonwood Heights are owner occupied - so the homes are occupied by homeowners. The Cottonwood Recreation Center is located on 7400 South 2300 East. This is a fun spot for the neighborhood because there are year round activities. There is a large swimming pool with water slides and water spouts for the younger children. There are diving boards and diving platforms for the older children and adults. Tennis courts are also available and the center has a terrific tennis program for the children during the summer months. There is also a work out room inside the facility. An ice skating rink is also inside for the winter months. Cottonwood Country Club and golf is also nearby which is a big plus for the area. There is ample shopping with the new shops along 1300 East and Ft Union with a variety of restaurants.
What are the schools like in the area? The schools are in the new Canyons District which is updating the technology in the schools and staying within their budget to make sure the children have a well rounded education. The elementary schools inclue Bella Vista, Butler and CanyonView. The middle/junior high schools are Butler and Albion. The high school is Brighton High. The children also have the option of attending Cottonwood High School and the Academy for Math and Science in the Granite School District.
